A few words about dampness and its treatment.
As we know from Chinese medicine, dampness affects us from the climate around us.
The humid weather that is currently prevailing is causing all patients who already suffer from dampness in the digestive system (a feeling of incomplete emptying, mucus-filled stools, heaviness in the stomach and all the other signs of dampness that we know) to suffer more now. A combination of points that I like to treat dampness that can be added to a patient's regular treatment is lu5 sp9.
This is a combination that Dr. Wang Ju Yi talks about in his book Applied Channel Theory in Chinese Medicine where he writes that the combination of the two points does not cause Qi strengthening or Qi creation but rather Qi transformation in the TAI YIN layer. The combination of the points improves the movement of the spleen qi and the rise of the pure spleen qi upwards. By doing this, the points help to eliminate dampness. A diet that is suitable for hydration and is also relatively easy to digest is: Grains such as: basmati rice, buckwheat, spelt and millet In the vegetable section: pumpkin, lettuce, celery, parsley, green onions. Most fruits are not very suitable for humid conditions, but papaya can be suitable, as can a banana when it is slightly unripe. Legumes such as lentils and peas are relatively difficult to digest but are recommended in a moist state for those who can eat them (for example, after sprouting them). Orange lentils do not need to be sprouted. Infusions like thyme, sage, mint, chamomile are great for hydration. You don't have to drink them hot. You can wait for them to cool and drink at room temperature throughout the day (flavored water that you can drink all day or as a treat).
