An article intended for practitioners of Chinese medicine:
I want to share something interesting that I see in the clinic and I would love to know if it works/will work for you too.
We are used to diagnosing people with sensitive intestines as having spleen weakness or an imbalance between the spleen and liver, but sometimes there is also SI weakness that must be addressed in treatment.
It is true that there is reference to SI in syndromes, but in our treatments we will still mainly focus on strengthening the spleen in the context of digestion.
We know that the SI is responsible for separating turbid from pure in terms of liquids, but Giovanni notes that in his opinion the separation is also on the mental side and is expressed in mental clarity and making the right decisions for us.
I must say that I don't see many people like that in the clinic, but there are patients who really have difficulty separating the important from the trivial.
When I ask them questions, they will always answer anything other than what I asked.
Of course, their spleen is weak (and therefore there is also a kind of mental fog), but with these patients the feeling is that they really cannot separate what is important to address from what is not.
For such patients, I add 2 points to the treatment that, according to Dr. Tan, strengthen the SI:
SI1, SI5
I have already encountered several cases where the addition of these two points made a huge difference in treatment, but it is important to explain again that this is only when the patient does not know how to separate the important from the trivial in his speech and behavior, and not in general in the treatment of diarrhea.
I would love to hear if it worked/didn't work for you.
