Ulcerative colitis is an inflammatory disease of the lining of the large intestine. The cause of colitis is not clear, but it is currently believed that the disease is autoimmune, meaning that the immune system attacks the body itself. Colitis is more common in people with relatives who also suffer from colitis.
The disease is characterized by bloody diarrhea, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, fever, and weight loss.
Colitis is defined as a chronic disease that comes in attacks. When the disease is treated with medication or through complementary medicine, it can go into remission. It most often appears in young people between the ages of ten and thirty.
It is recommended and worthwhile to perform natural treatment for colitis using complementary medicine. Natural treatment for colitis will include the use of acupuncture, herbs, and nutritional therapy that will help put colitis into remission. Nutrition is important in influencing the onset of colitis, so it is important to have a diet that is appropriate for the disease.
