The following is for the women in the audience :)

Almost every patient who comes to the clinic says that there is a certain connection between menstruation/ovulation and digestive problems.

Chinese medicine makes a lot of reference to the connection between the menstrual cycle and digestive problems. It may sound strange, but according to Chinese medicine, you can diagnose what's happening in the rest of the body's systems through the menstrual cycle.

The number of days of bleeding, the intensity of bleeding, the color of the bleeding, premenstrual symptoms (cravings for sweets, back pain, headaches), and more help diagnose the entire body, not just the hormonal system.

It is important to say that although there is a connection between menstruation and digestive problems, pregnancy or menopause can also cause a worsening of the condition Sensitive bowel, Reflux, Crohn's or Colitis

Today I will focus on a problem that is familiar to many women: worsening of symptoms before menstruation and relief after menstruation begins, and I will explain why it occurs according to Chinese medicine.

Chinese medicine refers to the movements that happen in our bodies. When we are stressed or under stress, the movement of energy in our bodies is inward.

You can feel it in tight muscles or pain because instead of the energy flowing smoothly, it gets stuck.

In the days before menstruation, the blood accumulates in the uterus and waits for its flow to begin, which will occur with menstruation. Those who already suffer from a tendency to bursts in the flow of energy in the body due to emotional overload/stress/anger or even a few hours of sleep suffer even more bursts of energy during these premenstrual times, which manifest themselves in worsening digestive system symptoms.

Why is the digestive system the one that is affected? Chinese medicine emphasizes the connection between the different body systems. When the system responsible for the flow of energy in the body is affected, it begins to weaken other systems, including the digestive system. If our digestive system is sensitive to begin with, it will be the one that will respond.

What can be done to make it easier?

Before menstruation, it is worth walking more and creating more movement to stimulate the contractions, eating green foods (lettuce, parsley, cilantro, rocket), mild spicy spices such as leeks, ginger, fennel, green onions, cumin, breathing exercises, and anything that can inject energy into our body.
